Residents made their way to the Barclays Center Saturday to wait in line to cast their ballots on the first day of early voting in the state.
Polling sites opened at 10 a.m., but many people came out before then to secure their place in line.
Brooklyn resident Octavia says she got to the polling site at 8:30 a.m. and was still waiting on line as of 11:15 a.m.
"I decided to come out here early because I just wanted to get my vote in early," she says. "Not stand on line as long on the last day of voting so I decided to come today so my voice could be heard."
Another resident said she heard the line was a mile long and she is just proud to be on it.
This year marks the first time that early voting has been available in New York for a presidential election.
The Board of Elections says each polling location will have the same coronavirus precautions and safety measures in place that they had in the June primary elections.
Polling sites are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the weekends. Hours vary during the week.
Early voting runs through Nov. 1.
