North Wildwood will receive emergency beach repairs after heavy erosion damaged the beach over the last two years.

The Jersey Shore town is now expected to replenish the beach for the summer through a new project with the state.

Gov. Phil Murphy and North Wildwood Mayor Patrick Rosenello jointly announced the Emergency Beach Nourishment Dredging project on Thursday.

“The project will serve to protect the infrastructure, quality of life, and economy in North Wildwood until the Army Corps of Engineers and NJDEP are able to complete a long-term project," the statement said.

Officials say the current plan will begin over the next few weeks and is expected to provide relief to the community over the next few months.
