Sounds from a local business are keeping neighbors in Hauppauge and Commack awake at night. Now they're demanding that town officials in Smithtown take action.

Residents packed a town hall meeting, many of them to express concerns to local officials about the loud humming noise they say is coming from the Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge and disrupting their lives.

"I'm hoping to get the town on our side with this noise. Hopefully, we can get this fixed," said Kathy Tonry, of Hauppauge.

Neighbors say they have heard noises from different buildings in the industrial park, but for the past year, they believe the loudest sound is coming from "Contract Pharmacal Corp" at 160 Commercial Drive.

"We're all neighbors. We all have to work together and we need to do better with our partnership for us all to respect each other," said Scott Munro, of Hauppauge.

A spokesperson for Smithtown tells News 12 they investigated the noise complaint and issued Contract Pharmacal Corp a summons for violating the town's noise ordinance.

The matter will go before a judge this spring.

"I hope they're working on the noise. That would be wonderful. We want everyone to live in harmony," said Nicole Garguilo, a spokesperson for Smithtown.

The town supervisor told the concerned residents at the meeting that they are aware of the noise and are working with public safety to address the issue.

News 12 reached out to the company for comment and did not hear back.
