A bizarre investigation is underway in Jersey City.

The Division of Animal Care and Control says that a man killed a goose.

Pad Paws – a nonprofit animal rescue – posted photos of a family of geese. The rescue says a man in a bulldozer killed a goose with his bare hands after provoking the bird.

They say the man got too close to the goslings that the male goose was protecting.

“Jersey City takes matters involving animal cruelty seriously and remains committed to the humane and lawful treatment of all animals. We will continue working with the appropriate agencies to ensure this matter is handled responsibly, thoroughly, and in accordance with the law,” a spokesperson for the city wrote in a statement.

The spokesperson says the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the matter.

News 12 reached out to the prosecutor for more details and is waiting to hear back.
