An Edison teen was honored for his Eagle Scout project, which helps firefighters in Woodbridge.
Building and creating is Matteo Pittenger's hobby - and his 3-D printer helps with that process.
The Avenel Fire Department recognized Pittenger for building a turnout gear drying rack.
When firefighters come back from a call, they are often drenched in water. They hang their equipment on the rack, which consists of a fan that circulates air through the piping to dry the gear.
Pittenger says it took a couple months for the equipment and approvals. Once he got the OK, he built it in four days .
Pittenger is now an Eagle Scout for his Jersey Proud creation and donation.
