Military veterans and college students joined forces to battle hunger in Union County on Thursday.
Students from Kean and Montclair State universities came to the Community Food Bank in Hillside to unload 1,500 turkeys. Among the group were veterans who surged in Afghanistan, Desert Storm and Vietnam.
“There’s a charity we work with, they're feeding 70 families every week. They do it with the donations they receive. When they need help, they come to us,” says Ed Korek, with the Lakeland Marine Care Fund.
Stop & Shop donated all of the free turkeys.
