The state will file on behalf of most eligible residents.
If you own or rent property in New Jersey, you could soon be receiving information about this year's
ANCHOR benefit program.
Beginning Aug. 13, the state will begin sending eligible residents their confirmation letter with details about the 2025 Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters - ANCHOR - tax benefit.
"For residents under 65 and not collecting Social Security disability benefits, the ANCHOR filing season will begin in August 2025. We will file on behalf of most eligible residents," the state said on its
ANCHOR website.
This program offers property tax relief to New Jersey residents who own or rent property in New Jersey as their main home and meet certain income limits. This year's ANCHOR benefit is based on residency, income and age from 2024.
Senior residents or those who are collecting Social Security disability benefits can
apply using the combined application, PAS-1. The state will no longer require a PIN number when filing for the ANCHOR benefit. Instead, applicants will use the ID.m
e feature and may be require fill
ing out information on income, property and tax bills.
In previous years, payments ranged from $450 for renters to $1,500 for homeowners. This year, the state says the benefits will be the same. In addition, residents who are 65 and older will get a $250 bonus payment, bringing the total to $700.
The filing deadline for the ANCHOR benefit is Oct. 31, 2025.
