News 12 has obtained video showing the arrest of Christian Fuscarino, the former director of Garden State Equality.
Fuscarino was charged with child endangerment and assault last week. Sources tell News 12 that he arranged to turn himself in to authorities before dawn the next day.
Authorities say the incident happened on Nov. 9. According to an affidavit provided by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Fuscarino serves as a “resource parent” to a male child. The age of the child was redacted from the document.
The affidavit states that in an incident caught on the home's security cameras, Fuscarino is seen pulling the child from bed and appears to strike him multiple times across the face and push him into the bedroom wall.
“Fuscarino appears to stop and speak to [redacted] before striking him again,” the affidavit stated.
An attorney for Fuscarino says that the incident is a “difficult personal family moment.”
Garden State Equality is the state’s largest LGBTQ+ advocacy group. Fuscarino resigned following the charges.
Garden State Equality announced that an external review will take place following the incident.
