Family and friends gathered Monday night on Kearny Avenue to honor the life of a man who was killed after being struck by an arrow over the weekend.

Surveillance video obtained by News 12 shows the moment 45-year-old Pablo Criollo was hit. In the footage, Criollo appears to look back moments after being struck, continues walking briefly and then collapses on the sidewalk.

Criollo was taken to University Hospital and later died from his injuries, authorities said.

A vigil was held at the location of the incident. Loved ones lit candles and shared emotional moments in remembrance. Criollo’s wife, Paula, was seen in tears, asking why her husband was taken from them.

Jose Luis, a close family friend, described Criollo as a kind and special person who did not deserve what happened.

Officials say he barricaded himself inside his house after the incident and set up multiple fires, prompting a police standoff that lasted several hours.
