The record holiday travel is underway, with millions of Americans expected to fly to their destination this year.
AAA expects 8.03 million travelers will take domestic flights this holiday season, which is the first time ever that number exceeds 8 million.
Their data shows flights are 7% more expensive this year, averaging nearly $900 a ticket!
A total of 193,000 New Jersey residents are expected to fly from December 20 to Jan. 1st.
The top three U.S. destinations are Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
"When you look at the popular destinations, it's like most big cities around the country and Florida is off the charts. Four cities in Florida are on the top 10 list," said AAA Spokesperson Robert Sinclair.
"New York City is number seven on the most popular destination list," said Sinclair. "That means we'll have people traveling to our area, certainly people traveling through our area and a lot of people from our area."
Because of the expected record number of travelers during the holidays, allow extra time to travel to the airport, check in and get through security.
