Totowa police chief faces judge in Massachusetts on domestic violence charges

The chief of the Totowa Police Department was in a Massachusetts courtroom on Monday to face domestic violence charges.

Carmen Veneziano, 47, was arrested on Friday on fugitive charges. Officials say Veneziano is accused of kidnapping and assaulting a woman in a Boston hotel in September.

Totowa Mayor John Coiro says Veneziano is suspended without pay.

Earlier this year, Veneziano was accused of drunk driving in Point Pleasant. He accepted a plea deal on a lesser charge.
