Police: 24 people injured in head-on crash between car, NJ Transit bus in Union

Union police have roadways closed while officers investigate the collision.

Police say 24 people suffered injuries when a vehicle collided with a New Jersey Transit bus in Union Friday morning.
According to Union Township police Director Christopher Donnelly, the crash happened at approximately 7:20 a.m. in the area of Stuyvesant Avenue and Pleasant Parkway.
"Preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction of the bus, crossed over the double yellow lines and struck the NJ Transit bus head on," Donnelly said.

First responders from the Union Fire Department, as well as mutual aid from neighboring towns, responded to the scene to evaluate the patients. Police say approximately 24 people were injured, but none of those injuries appear for be life-threatening.
Stuyvesant Avenue between Stanley Terrace and Pleasant Parkway was closed during the police investigation but has since reopened.
