A fire that broke out at a North Brunswick apartment complex on Friday night has left over 20 families displaced.

Many parts of the roof at the Colony Oaks Apartment Complex were burnt off by the flames. Debris and vinyl siding also shed off the side of the building.

The Emergency Management of North Brunswick was at the scene to inspect the damage on Saturday.

“There was a lot of scrambling trying to get American Red Cross out here and to get a count of how many people and animals [are displaced],” said Marissa Heyman, of the Emergency Management of North Brunswick.

Authorities said the cause of the fire was still under investigation as of Saturday evening.
