Motorcyclist killed after crashing into wooded area on Rt. 206

Mount Olive police are investigating the crash.

A 23-year-old Pennsylvania man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding veered off the road and crashed in a wooded area of Mount Olive Monday evening.

Mount Olive police received multiple 911 calls around 9:26 p.m. reporting a traffic accident on Route 206 in the Flanders section of town. When officers arrived at the location, they found that a motorcycle had left the roadway and crashed into a wooded area of Route 206 north between Oakwood Village and the intersection of Chestnut Way.

Police, along with firefighters from Flanders and Budd Lake as well as EMS crews from both towns, responded to assist the driver following the crash. According to police, the driver died from injuries sustained in the crash. He has not yet been identified.

The crash remains under investigation, and police are asking anyone who may have information regarding the incident or the events leading up to it to contact the Mount Olive Police Department Traffic Unit at 973-691-0850, Ext. 7555.
