A 28-year-old Spotswood man who was identified as a Lyft driver has been charged in connection with two incidents involving Princeton University students, officials said.
Dimario Wynter is charged with two counts of luring and two counts of harassment. He is also charged with a disorderly persons offense for allegedly trying to solicit a sexual act from one of the victims, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities say the first incident happened April 16 on Prospect Avenue, where a student reported that a driver stopped to ask for directions, gave her a $100 bill, got out of the vehicle and demanded a sexual act. The student dropped the money and ran away.
The second incident happened on April 17 on Ivy Lane, where another student reported that a driver stopped to ask for directions, handed her a $100 bill and asked her to leave with him. Authorities say the driver left after the student returned the money.
A spokesperson for Lyft released the following statement:
"We take reports like this extremely seriously, and the driver has been permanently removed from the platform. We stand ready to assist law enforcement with their investigation."
Wynter was arrested on April 30 at the Princeton Police Department and released pending future court appearances.
