It was Sept. 30, 1956, when Thomas Fitzpatrick made a drunk bet at a New York City bar that he could go over the GWB to New Jersey and be back in 15 minutes.
It seemed impossible, but Fitzpatrick stole a plane from Teterboro Airport and flew back to New York – landing the plane near 191st Street.
He then did it again two years later after someone claimed he was lying.
