The FBI is asking for the public's help in finding a Plainfield man who is suspected of robbing as many as seven banks.

According to authorities, 39-year-old Marlon Peek pulled off two heists on Tuesday. The first was at a PNC Bank on St. Nicholas Avenue in South Plainfield. Authorities say he managed to evade police despite a door-to-door search in the area. The incident caused the lockdown of two nearby schools.

Police didn't find Peek, whose cousin's house was also searched. That cousin, Christine Brown, urged Peek to turn himself in.

According to police, Peek broke into someone's home, where he hid until the homeowner returned. He then allegedly threatened the homeowner with knives before stealing clothing and a Ford Focus.

Instead of surrendering, police believe Peek drove to Springfield, where he allegedly robbed a TD Bank on Morris Avenue on the same day.

Peek's alleged crime spree began last month. He is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 220 pounds.
