Digital driver’s licenses may be coming to New Jersey

New Jersey is closer to ditching plastic identification for a digital version.
The Senate Transportation Committee voted to push forward bill S1297 that requires the Motor Vehicle Commission to create mobile driver's licenses and identification cards. The digital cards would be accessible on an app.
Nearly a dozen other states already made the switch to digital - although the American Civil Liberties Union warned about privacy, data collection and increased ID checks.
