Fourteen people were injured in Newark on Tuesday when a New Jersey Transit bus crashed into the side of a PSE&G utility truck.
The crash took place at 10:46 a.m. along 15th Avenue and Bedford Street.
The utility truck was pushed onto its side and up onto the sidewalk.
A witness tells News 12 New Jersey that the utility truck was stationary and working at the intersection when the bus swerved and hit the truck.
A total of 12 passengers on the bus were injured, along with the driver of the bus and the truck. They were all taken to University Hospital.
Shevon Robinson lives nearby. She heard the crash and went outside to find the injured on the sidewalk.
“Most of them had head [and] nosebleeds. One lady, her feet were bleeding. Most of them were facial,” said Shevon Robinson.
The truck took out a utility pole, which knocked out power to the surrounding neighborhood, including a senior residence, nearby apartments and two traffic lights.
