New Brunswick police are looking into a second shooting at a park near Rutgers University.

The latest incident happened yesterday at Pine Street Park. Witnesses reported shots being fired and two vehicles departing the area. There were no reported victims during this incident. The initial investigation has revealed that this does not appear to be a random act of violence and there does not appear to be a threat to the public.

Last Wednesday at around 11:30 p.m., authorities responded to Pine Street Park, following a report of an unconscious male. Upon their arrival, officers located the male victim, Fernando Buezo Diaz, 18, of New Brunswick, who was shot and died on the scene.

The New Brunswick Police Department asks that anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time, contact the NBPD's Detective Bureau. The Rutgers University police department also recommends walking in groups or staying alert of your surroundings.
