A Newark man was convicted in connection with a 2023 hit-and-run that killed a 73-year-old pedestrian, authorities said.

Andre Snowden-Stegall, 23, was convicted April 2 of endangering an injured victim and assault by auto, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutors said Snowden-Stegall was driving south on Bergen Street on Nov. 20, 2023, when he turned left onto Avon Avenue and struck Roger Williams, who was in a crosswalk and using a walker.

Williams was thrown onto the hood of the car and then onto the sidewalk. He died from his injuries four months later, authorities said.

Snowden-Stegall is scheduled to be sentenced June 15. He faces up to five years in prison.
