Leadership at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst marked the beginning of Suicide Prevention Month by greeting service members at the gate with messages of support Monday.
Base leaders held signs with messages including "We are proud of you," "Reaching out is a sign of strength," "Connect to protect" and "You matter."
"A little reminder can go a long way," the joint base said in a social media post.
The base said encouraging words can brighten someone's morning, start an important conversation or remind someone that people care.
The Suicide and Crisis Lifeline says crises among service members and veterans can be heightened by their experiences during military service.
Anyone struggling with mental health can call or text the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988 for help.
