Four people were injured in a boat crash in Stamford Harbor Saturday night, fire officials say.

Just before 10 p.m. officials received an alert that a vessel hit the harbor's break wall.

Upon their arrival, firefighters found that the center-console boat was taking on water.

All four people on board were injured.

Two female passengers had the most significant injuries and were brought onto a fire boat where they received medical care. Once they reached Czescik Marina, the two women were taken to Stamford Hospital.

Police remained at the break wall with the two male passengers and tried to prevent the boat from sinking. The two men were treated by Stamford EMS.

Officials say the vessel could not be saved and sank. The vessel's location was marked for future salvage operations.

"This incident is a sobering reminder of how quickly things can go wrong on the water, especially at night. Always have enough life jackets for everyone on board and follow key safety practices after dark. Slow down because visibility is reduced, share lookout duties and preserve your night vision. Watch carefully for red and green navigation aids, listen closely for other vessels, and use your navigation instrument, especially the radar if your vessel is equipped. Preparedness and caution can save lives," said Deputy Fire Chief Philip Hayes.
