A shelter-in-place order remains in effect in Bridgewater, more than 24 hours after police responded to a neighborhood.

The order was issued around 9 p.m. Wednesday, urging residents to avoid the area along Hill Lane. The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office says it is investigating one home on that street but declined to provide details.

Officials said that there is no threat to the public.

Officials say information will be limited because of the nature of the ongoing investigation and will update when appropriate.

Bridgewater students were cleared to go to school, but authorities urged families to avoid Hill Lane.
