What to know for St. Peter's second-round NCAA Tournament matchup vs. Murray State
St. Peter’s men’s basketball is strutting to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after an improbable overtime upset of No. 2 Kentucky. The No. 15 Peacocks will play No. 7 Murray State at 7:45 p.m. Saturday.
Led by the pair of hot shooting juniors Daryl Banks III and Doug Edert, the Peacocks have the ingredients to be the darlings of this year’s tournament. 
They are the 10th team to be seeded 15 and knock off a No. 2 seed and would be just the third to advance to a Sweet 16 after Oral Roberts (2021) and Florida Gulf Coast (2013).

How did they manage to top Kentucky?

Shooting 52.9 percent from three-point range and 50.9 percent overall. They were 18 of 21 on free throws. Banks had a career high-27 points while Edert had 20 and two big three-point baskets in the final stretch.

St. Peter's finds itself in a primetime network TV slot for the second round - they play at 7:45 p.m. Saturday on CBS.

They are ranked No. 6 in the nation in rebounds and recorded 42 against San Francisco. With a 5-17 overall tourney record, they’re no strangers to March Madness. They’re also 4-4 since 2010 and Saturday’s game will be the first time they are the higher seed.
