Two trophies were up for grabs Wednesday in New Jersey's Last Dance baseball tournament.
The winner of the south region will take home a new piece of hardware named for the late Jim Brown, of Colonia. Brown, a beloved educator and coach, died from coronavirus in April. His family was honored in a pregame ceremony, with his son throwing out the first pitch.
Jackson advanced to the Last Dance World Series with a 4-3 win over Bishop Eustace.
“It feels amazing,” says Jackson pitcher Zach Crotchfelt. “It's the best feeling in the world and as baseball players, that's what we live for. So, it feels amazing.”
Jackson will meet another public school in the Last Dance World Series. In the north region, Cranford beat Bergen Catholic 10-0.
The Last Dance World Series is Friday night at Arm and Hammer Park in Trenton.
