Teachers nationwide are now eligible as of today to get vaccinated against COVID-19, but getting every student back in school five days a week is still a work in progress.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends strategies for a safe reopening, including masks, distancing, hand-washing, surface-cleaning, and ventilation.
“We were so pleased to hear President Biden say that we should prioritize educators,” says Becky Pringle, president of the National Education Association. "Most of our schools are already back to in-person learning."
A nationwide education summit is scheduled later this month. Experts and school leaders from across the country will discuss challenges and successes of reopening.
