Authorities have identified the two women killed when a New Jersey Transit train struck their car Friday morning.
NJ Transit officials have identified the victims as 73-year-old New Brunswick resident Florence Obado and 44-year-old Middlesex resident Susan Mazurek.
The crash happened at the Cedar Avenue crossing. The Raritan Valley Line train had departed from Newark and was headed to High Bridge when the collision occurred. The train was carrying roughly 30 people, including passengers and crew.
No one aboard the train was hurt, but service on the Raritan Valley Line was suspended in both directions between Plainfield and Raritan.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, but NJ Transit officials say that all safety equipment at that crossing was in working order.
The Associated Press wire services contributed to this report.
