The state plans on evaluating a 10-mile stretch of I-287 in Morris County after the road buckled in multiple spots.
The NJDOT says the recent extreme heat cause the bridge joints to expand, that caused the concrete road to buckle.

The section is between Exit 57/Skyline Drive in Oakland and the Old Lane Bridge over I-287 in Montville.
Crews this week and next week will be making proactive emergency repairs to prevent further damage to the roadway.
Thursday, June 26 and Friday, June 27
8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Up to two lanes closed, at least one lane open
4 p.m. – 9 p.m. All lanes open
9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Up to two lanes closed, at least one lane open
Monday, June 30 through Wednesday, July 2
9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Up to two lanes closed, at least one lane open
This all started Tuesday with two emergency repairs on closures on 287 southbound at milepost 52.6 in Riverdale and milepost 49.3 in Montville.
