Bait and switch – Woman allegedly switched, stole rings from NJ Costco stores

Police say a woman from Nutley has been arrested after allegedly committing what is determined to be a bait and switch related incident involving a $28,000 ring at two different Costco stores.
The incident happened over the weekend at the Costco stores in Clifton and Wayne.
According to management in Clifton, Izabela Kolano, 49, asked to see the ring in question, and after looking at it for a few moments, she returned what was thought to be the original ring – and left.
Management says the original ring had been replaced by a different ring valued at $2,000.
Management determined the ring the suspect had replaced during the incident was stolen from the Costco in Wayne earlier in the day.
Following an investigation, officers arrested Kolano at her home in Nutley, but with no ring in sight.
After questioning, the suspect said the ring was hidden under a rock on a dead-end street in Wallington under a fence bordering the Passaic River.
