2 indicted on racketeering, human trafficking charges tied to alleged prostitution scheme in New Jersey
Prosecutors allege a Philadelphia man and a Collingswood woman trafficked victims, including a minor, in New Jersey and Pennsylvania while using threats, coercion and drugs.
Two people have been indicted on racketeering, human trafficking, kidnapping and numerous other charges for their alleged roles in a prostitution scheme that prosecutors say exploited multiple victims, including a minor, across New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport announced Tuesday that Tamier R. Brown-Miller, 26, of Philadelphia, and Dezeree Smith, 25, of Collingswood, were charged in a state indictment with racketeering, conspiracy to commit human trafficking, kidnapping, multiple human trafficking offenses and other crimes. Brown-Miller also faces additional charges including sexual assault and promoting prostitution involving a child.
According to prosecutors, an investigation began after the Atlantic City Police Department received a report on Oct. 14, 2025, that an underage victim had been sex trafficked by Brown-Miller and Smith between July and October 2025 in Cherry Hill, Atlantic City and Pennsylvania.
Prosecutors allege the pair brought the victim to motels to engage in commercial sex acts, while Brown-Miller took sexually explicit photographs of the victim and posted them on websites advertising escort services. Brown-Miller is also accused of supplying the victim with illegal drugs, assaulting her and keeping the proceeds from the trafficking along with Smith.
Authorities said Brown-Miller and Smith were also charged on Oct. 30, 2025, in connection with a separate alleged human trafficking incident at a Gloucester City motel. Prosecutors allege Brown-Miller threatened to kill a victim’s family if she refused to work for him.
