Two people were killed Monday in separate crashes just 15 minutes and 2 miles apart on the Garden State Parkway.
The first crash happened around 5:45 a.m. in Clifton. New Jersey State Police say a BMW X5 was driving northbound when the driver veered off the right side of the road and struck several trees and a guardrail before overturning.
The driver and two passengers were all thrown from the car. One person was killed, and two others were seriously injured. Details about those victims were not immediately available.
Police say the second crash happened in Elmwood Park. An unknown vehicle struck a pedestrian who was standing in the Parkway and drove away. A BMW 330 then ran over that pedestrian. The driver of the BMW stayed at the scene, but the driver of the unknown vehicle did not stop. The pedestrian was killed.
Anyone who may have any information about either crash is urged to contact New Jersey State Police.
