Parents have concerns about their children's education Thursday after a state report recently gave the Trenton School District failing marks
A state evaluation, called Q-SAC, gave the school district near rock bottom scores in crucial areas of education and management. One issue cited by the report was the lack of proper certification among some teachers for the subjects they teach.
State Education Commissioner Lucille Davy said state authorities might come in and make decisions for the district's 28 schools when it comes to instruction and personnel.
Parents say the problems come from too few teachers and too many students.
Despite the district's low marks, some parents feel their children are getting a good education. "He's getting a fair education," parent Letisha Nesbitt said. "I just think teachers need to be more patient with the kids nowadays."
Meanwhile, Davy says the Trenton School District needs to find a way to fix its problems so the state won't implement a full takeover.
