Heat and humidity will steadily build through the first half of the week, with temperatures climbing into the 90s by Tuesday. While Monday remains warm and fairly comfortable, the pattern quickly turns more oppressive as a strong ridge of high pressure settles over the region.
The hottest stretch is expected Wednesday through Friday, when many communities could approach or exceed 100. Combined with high humidity, feels-like temperatures will soar even higher, creating dangerous conditions for anyone spending time outdoors. Isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms are also possible late in the week, including around the Fourth of July, as the hot and humid air mass becomes increasingly unstable.

Monday: A mix of sun and clouds, with warm temperatures. Highs in the mid- to upper 80s.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, hotter and more humid. Temperatures in the low to mid-90s.
Wednesday: Sunny and dangerously hot. Temperatures in the upper 90s to around 100.
Thursday: Extreme heat continues, with abundant sunshine. Temperatures around 100 to 102.
Friday -- Fourth of July: Dangerous heat continues, with scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms possible. Temperatures around 100.
Saturday: Hot and humid, with scattered thunderstorms possible. Temperatures in the mid-90s.
Sunday: Slightly cooler, but still very warm. Temperatures in the upper 80s to around 90.
