A Williamsburg street was blocked off for hours after several manholes caught fire, causing buildings nearby to be evacuated, sources say.

A Williamsburg street was blocked off for hours after several manholes caught fire, causing buildings nearby to be evacuated, sources say.
Con Edison and Spectrum crews are working to repair some damaged cables.
Sources close to Con Edison tell News 12 the fire was caused by cables in the manhole that burnt out.
Con Edison officials say they responded to three smoking manholes in the area.
While Con Edison is not reporting any power outages, sources close to Spectrum tell News 12 residents are without cable and internet services.
A deacon of a nearby church says there was a service at the time. He says he immediately jumped into action helping evacuate the more than 40 people inside the church building.
There are no reports on injuries.
