It’s fall in the Garden State, and News 12 New Jersey's Brian Donohue got a look at Route 519, a “Positively New Jersey” scenic route to travel this autumn.
Donahue says he consulted with Pete Genovese, a long-time author and Star-Ledger writer who says the most scenic drive is Route 519 from Rosemont to Colesville.
County Road 519 is a 70-mile drive from Hunterdon through Warren and into Sussex County.
Tiny villages like Harmony and Beemerville and old churches and Colonial era cemeteries sit on the side of the highway.
Genovese wrote that it's a trip through New Jersey you may have forgotten exists.
"When people think of New Jersey, they think of the parkway, the turnpike and all the congestion. New Jersey's a beautiful place," says Jack Hill, of Milford.
