Hosting the world's biggest sporting event takes years of planning.

As the FIFA World Cup at MetLife Stadium comes to a close, tonight's shoutout belongs to the dedicated medical professionals from the Meadowlands who helped keep hundreds of thousands of fans safe throughout the tournament.

They're the same trained teams who cover the New York Jets and New York Giants home games, concerts and other major events. But the World Cup presented an entirely different level.

For the past month, dozens of these professionals were stationed throughout the venue, prepared to respond at a moment's notice.

While fans remember the goals, it's worth recognizing the people who worked quietly behind the scenes to make it all possible.
