Dozens of people were evacuated between Maple and Linden avenues in Ridgefield on Friday after a tractor-trailer and a car crashed, leading to the truck hitting utility poles and an apartment building.

Ridgefield Mayor Hugo Jimenez tells News 12 New Jersey the building has 50 apartments and that everyone inside was evacuated.

The crash also knocked out power to the area for a time.

A deputy fire chief says they had to extricate the driver of the car, who was taken to a local hospital.

PSE&G confirmed to News 12 that there was no gas leak. A firefighter suffered minor injuries but is expected to recover.

No details on the crash’s cause have been released.
