NJ Transit train fatally strikes trespasser at Red Bank station

North Jersey Coast Line service was suspended between Long Branch and Matawan. Substitute bus service was being provided between Long Branch and Matawan stations.

A NJ Transit train fatally struck a trespasser Wednesday morning at the Red Bank station, officials said.

NJ Transit said North Jersey Coast Line train No. 3218 struck the person at about 6:20 a.m. The train had departed Long Branch at 6:08 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at New York Penn Station at 7:39 a.m.

North Jersey Coast Line service was suspended between Long Branch and Matawan. Substitute bus service was being provided between Long Branch and Matawan stations.

No injuries were reported to the crew or the 55 customers on board.
