A student was injured in a stabbing at Kean University Tuesday evening, according to campus police.
Officials say the male student was stabbed near the basketball courts next to the Miron Student Center on the Union Campus around 8:15 p.m.
That student was taken to the hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries is currently unknown.
Officials believe that the incident is connected to a group of people seen riding around the campus on bicycles - who left immediately after the incident.
Authorities say that there is not an ongoing threat on campus, but extra police will be on patrol overnight.
A spokesperson for the university wrote in a statement, "Kean administrators are on campus working closely with student leaders and others to respond to their concerns...Kean leaders want to reassure our students and their families that we are taking all steps to ensure their safety."
