A man convicted of breaking into a home and killing a woman in Woodbury will get his prison sentence cut in half.

Police say Brandon Wilson will be in prison for 27 years for the beating death of 26-year-old Shawneeq Carter, of Camden, six years ago.

Prosecutors say Carter was housesitting for a friend in Woodbury and staying there with her 5-year-old son and a 5-year-old cousin when Wilson broke into the house and bludgeoned her with a metal bar from a weight bench. She was also stabbed.

After being convicted, Wilson was originally sentenced to 54 years for the murder.
