Sen. Cory Booker and regional transit leaders say the regional transit systems will receive an almost $5 billion boost in funding for projects, including the Gateway Tunnel project.
The funding will support the Hudson Tunnel project, the modernization of the existing Penn station facilities, track funding for the Dock and Sawtooth bridge projects, and funding for the Delco project in New Brunswick.
Booker says the trip across the Hudson and Passaic rivers is about to get a lot easier. He says this is the return on investment for which New Jersey residents have been waiting.
Booker says the tunnel is expected to be done in 2038.
