Police say a man was arrested for robbing a 7-Eleven in Lakewood Sunday afternoon while wielding a metal pipe.
Authorities say Shawn Frederick, 34, walked into the convenience store on River Avenue and approached a store clerk who was standing behind the sales counter. They say Frederick gestured the pipe toward the clerk in a “menacing manner with the intent to intimidate or cause fear.”
Police say the store clerk tried to get away, but Frederick kept walking back and forth on the other side of the counter. They say Frederick then jumped over the counter, grabbed two packs of cigarettes and ran off.
Police say they found Frederick a short distance away and arrested him. He is being held at Ocean County Jail where he faces robbery and weapon related charges.
