From real trains to model ones, members of TMB train club are big fans of the tracks.

Robert Fox, 11, has 30 locomotives and over 200 train cars. He gets to run them in the largest train club on Long Island.

“I was 5 years old when I got into trains. It’s been six years now, and it’s just been a great experience,” said Robert Fox. “I was so excited they let me in. I was the youngest member, probably the youngest member ever to join.”

The club's set is 6,500 square feet, and every detail is built by hand. The scenery has been in the works for three years.

Many of the scenes are real locations from Long Island and New York City.

But it’s not just for kids. Most of the members are adults who have kept their passions alive since childhood. Some of the members have been around since the club started in the 1990s.

Robert Fox’s dad, Andy Fox, is a locomotive engineer for the LIRR. He says it's fun watching his son get passionate about his hobby.

“Instead of staying at home and playing on the iPad or playing electronics, they're going out and they're creating something. They’re using their imagination,” said Andy Fox.

The club has open houses at its location in Dix Hills scheduled throughout the year.
