A Clifton woman has filed a lawsuit against Taco Bell, claiming she broke her teeth on a metal screw that was inside a burrito at the Passaic location last year.

In the lawsuit, the resident claims the incident happened “on or about” June 17, 2025, at the Taco Bell on Prospect Street. The suit says that Taco Bell “negligently and carelessly distributed, processed, prepared, cooked, packaged, marketed, sold, and placed into the stream of commerce a burrito containing a foreign metal object, namely a screw, thereby rendering said food product unsafe, unwholesome, unadulterated and in a dangerously defective condition.”

In addition, the suit says the defendants owed a duty to their customers to ensure that the food they served was free from foreign objects and fit for human consumption.

The plaintiff claims that as a result of the incident, she sustained food poisoning, dental trauma, broken teeth, pain and suffering. She also says she has incurred medical expenses associated with the injuries. The lawsuit says she has suffered permanent damages and is seeking compensation.

News 12 has reached out to Taco Bell for comment and is awaiting a response.
