The spring semester at The College of New Jersey started on Monday.

Students are now back on campus. When they left for break, they might have started a new tradition.

There has been a 3,000-pound bronze lion statue on campus for the last eight years, in honor of the school’s mascot. This year, during finals week, students began touching the lion’s nose for good luck.

This is the first year that students started to do this. One can imagine that in 50 years the lion’s nose will be pretty polished from everybody touching it.

Touch the lion’s nose for good luck in the new semester.
