Video games are sounding more like real life than ever.

This spring, an audio engineer visited New Jersey's F-16 fighter squadron in Egg Harbor Township to record the aircraft sounds for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The recordings went far beyond the roar of the engine. The team was able to capture the canopy closing, the clicks of cockpit switches and buttons, and other subtle details to make the experience as authentic as possible.

Players flying the F-16 in the game can now hear the actual sounds made by the real aircraft - all recorded in South Jersey.
