A New Jersey native could be the starting goalkeeper for Team USA when the World Cup begins.
Matt Turner is a 28-year-old who plays for Arsenal. Raised in Park Ridge, he's not the first star goalie of New Jersey.
Tim Howard held the spot for two World Cups.
Turner went to Saint Joe's in Montvale.
Turner got a pep talk from one of the most well-known fictional soccer coaches, Ted Lasso.
Lasso's letter to Turner reads, “You were just a teeny Turner in Park Ridge when you took up soccer. Then you discovered your pastime was a passion. Like when I started baking to improve my hand-eye coordination.”
Team USA plays against Wales on Monday.
