FDA authorization puts US COVID-19 booster within reach

The U.S. is one step closer to giving out booster shots of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine to seniors and others at high risk.
The FDA authorized a booster dose for the Pfizer the vaccine last night.
Anyone 65 and older or younger adults with underlying health conditions, and people whose jobs put them at high risk of contracting COVID are eligible.

The CDC advisory committee is expected to meet again this morning to make recommendations about who should get a booster shot and when.
Currently, certain people with compromised immune systems, like cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, are able to get a third dose of the vaccine.
Last month, the FDA amended its emergency use authorization of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to allow that group to get a third shot.
In Connecticut, the push to get the unvaccinated a shot continues, and there will be a vaccination clinic at the GBT bus terminal in Bridgeport today on 710 Water St.
The state's mobile vaccine van will be on site from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
