‘Beloved figure for decades’: Owner of Dom’s Bakery in Hoboken dies
Dom Castellitto, beloved owner of former bakery Dom’s Bakery in Hoboken, has died.
Castelitto’s daughter JoAnne Castellitto Perkins announced the news in a Facebook post.
Hoboken Mayor Ravinder Bhalla called Castellitto a legend and wrote in a tweet that he was a “beloved figure for decades” who had the tremendous respect and admiration of his community.
“As an immigrant from Italy, Dom lived the American dream and represented the very best of Hoboken as a hard-working baker and business owner, and most importantly, a genuine person who was a devoted father, husband, and friend to many,” Bhalla tweeted.
Dom’s Bakery shut its doors in January after 43 years of service. Not only was the bakery a favorite among everyday people but it was also a favorite of Hoboken's very own Frank Sinatra.
